City street work may cause detours

August 11, 2002

A number of street projects in Hagerstown will affect traffic in the city during the weeks of Aug. 12 and Aug. 19, according to information released by city officials.

As work continues on downtown improvements, demolition of sidewalks and curbs on the south side of West Franklin Street from North Potomac to Prospect streets will begin. The installation of stormwater pipe on the north side of the street will continue.

On West Washington Street, from Walnut to Potomac streets, installation of stormwater pipes will continue. Sidewalk replacement and asphalt repair will be done on the north side of that area.

No work is scheduled during the week in the city's street overlay project. During the week of Aug. 19, several streets will be closed for improvements. They include Park Lane from Potomac Avenue to Woodland Way and Corbett Street from Howard Street to the city line.
