Austin wins WACO long drive

LOCAL GOLF



Jim Austin won the WACO Long Drive Contest and the $100 prize with a drive of 347 yards. Dennis Stoner won the second prize of $50 with a drive of 345 yards. Kevin Peterson and Brandon Hendrickson both drove the ball 339 yards and received the third place prize of $30. In last place receiving a sleeve of Women's Pinnacle Golf golf balls was Joel Rice with a drive of 47 yards.

Brunswick 14, Halfway 3: Nick Aaronson and Todd Cutsail combined a two-hitter with seven strikeouts, Ellie McCarthy and Matt Gourley each had three hits while Nicky King and C.J. Shankle each had two hits to lead Brunswick into the losers bracket final today at 6 at American Little League.

River City Classic


Greencastle 7, East Frederick 0: Creighton Amsley and Cole Sellers both had two hits as Greencastle won the championship game.




ADULT LEAGUES



Hub City Softball


Century 21 33, Sealy 6: Mick Byers, Steve Ebberts, Brad Weaver, Ralph Crawford and Lew Thomas each had four hits for Century 21. Byers homered twice while Ebberts, Weaver and Crawford homered once.

Century 21 33, Leroy Myers 23: Allen Harsh had six hits, Mick Byers had five, Brad Moore hit for the cycle and Lew Thomas, Brad Tritch and Ralph Crawford each added four to lead Century 21. Thomas homered twice.

Wash. Co. Area Church Softball


Nazarene 11, Otterbein 10: Greg Wright had two home runs and Ned Householder homered once for Nazarene.

Christ Lutheran 25, New Life 11: Jair Barr and Ed Beachley each had four hits, including a home run, and Mark Angle, Donnie Tyler, Jeff Kelley and Josh Wilson all had four hits for Christ Lutheran. John Davidson had four hits for New Life.
