Pa. man killed in early-morning crash

NEEDMORE, Pa. - A 29-year-old Needmore man died shortly after midnight Thursday in a head-on crash on Timber Ridge Road in Belfast Township, Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said.

The driver of the second vehicle was listed in critical condition in a Johnstown, Pa. hospital.

Joseph Hollenshead was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Daryl Heckman.

Hollenshead was southbound in a 1987 Ford Thunderbird when the car crossed the center line and struck a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Leon J. Mumma, 31, of McConnellsburg, Pa., police said.

Mumma was flown by helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center where his condition was listed as critical, a spokeswoman there said.

Police said Hollenshead was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident occurred at 12:31 a.m., police said.
