Threesome wins Pro-Am

The team of Pro Mike Walsh, and Amateurs Pat Steiner and Chuck Ingram, shot a seven under-par "best two-ball" to win the WACO Pro-Am on Wednesday.

Ingram won the low amateur as he fired a 2-under par 70. Ken Nauman won the low professional, firing a 1-under par 71.

Valley 11, Halfway 10: Tyler Puffenberger had two hits and Matt Bobbitt added two RBI for Valley. Chris Kiley had two RBI for Halfway.

Conococheague 17, Maugansville 4: Brandon Greene and Steve Clavette had three hits, while Devon Byrd, Matt Kelley and Tyler Byers each added two for Conococheague. Kevin Miller and Zach Koontz each had two hits for Maugansville.

River City Classic

East Frederick 11, Penmar 5: Stephen Hammerle and Zach Jones each had two hits and two RBI, Mikey Burks went 3-for-4 and Ethan Baker was 2-for-3 with two RBI for East Frederick.


Wash. Co Co-Ed Softball

Stouffers 21, Deafnet Two 8: Soutffers' David Stouffer, Bobby Carter and Travis Keefer each homered.

4-Star Athletic Complex 14, Deafnet 2 11: Jeff Kirkpatrick had three doubles and six RBI, while Erin Kline added three hits and three RBI to lead 4-Star.

Hub City Softball

Burhans Station 27, Bud Light 13: Dewey Whitmore, Dale Reed and Heath Crone each had four hits for Burhans. Reed, Crone, Danny Berg, Jason Jenkins and Scott Remsberg each homered.

Lenox 21, Fazoli's 18: Mike Ward had five hits, while Frank Hood and Rocky Berger each added four hits. Mike Ward homered twice and Deron Crawford homered once.

Halfway Morning League

Tony's Pizza 25, MCI 4-12 15: Adam Whitacre had five hits, including two home runs, Bob McPherson had four hits, including two home runs, Corey Barch had four hits and Scott Coulter homered for Tony's Pizza. Steve Thomas homered for MCI.

RCI 28, Tony's Pizza 15: John Moyer had three home runs for RCI. Bob McPherson had three homers and both Greg Petty and Jimmy Taylor homered for Tony's Pizza.

Tony's Pizza 20, Sheriff's Dept. 5: Scott Coulter and Jimmy Taylor both had four hits, Adam Whitacre had two home runs and Coulter homered for Tony's Pizza.


Boonsboro grad honored

McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) and Boonsboro graduate Ben Graff was named by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to the NCAA Division III scholar-athlete team. Graff graduated Summa Cum Laude from McDaniel in May with departmental honors in Communication and English.
