BRUNSWICK, Md. - The Brunswick Orioles increased their lead over the Hagerstown Braves to 3-1 in the Blue Ridge Adult League baseball championship series with a 3-1 win on Wednesday night in Game 4 of the best-of-7 series.

The game was a pitchers duel that featured a pair of five-hitters as Brunswick's Willie McLane came out on top of Hagerstown's Brian Renner.

McLane seemed to get stronger as the game went along as he retired 10 of the final 12 Braves' batters.

"I was basically just mixing up my pitches," McLane said. "I was hitting the inside corner and it has been effective. I just don't keep throwing fastball after fastball like I used to do. I feel that I am getting smarter as a pitcher and I hope that I can keep it up."

McLane has pitched for Frederick Community College the past two springs and will play for West Virginia State in the fall.

"It was probably the key game of the series," Brunswick manager John Mangold said. "If they win, we're tied up. If we win, we're in the driver's seat. Willie McLane stepped up huge. With Renner on the mound for them, I figured that we weren't going to get many runs. I'm glad that Willie was able to outduel him."

Brunswick (33-9) came back from an early 1-0 deficit against Hagerstown (38-9) by scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI infield single by Corey O'Bryan and a throwing error.

The Orioles got their final run in the fourth on a solo homer by Steve Goode.

The Braves got their only run in the second on an RBI infield single by player-manager Danny Cunningham. Hagerstown leadoff batter Kevin Crawford had two hits.

"We're leaving men on base and we're not getting any hits," Cunningham said. "We didn't get it done again. We failed to produce."

Game 5 is tonight at 6 at North Hagerstown High School.
