The 19th edition of Washington County's open golf tournament, a 36-hole event which will be played this weekend at Beaver Creek Country Club, has expanded its field by 40 players, all looking to take over the championship which will be vacated by Bill Wingerd.

Wingerd bypassed the WACO because of a previous commitment to play in another tournament. Wingerd won last year's title with a tournament record score of 142.

A number of former WACO champions are in the field, which has been expanded from 160 to 200 players, to challenge for the 2002 title. Twenty golfers remain on the alternate list.
