Treadway lifts Suns-Saturday

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Brion Treadway had his best outing in his comeback from arm surgery with six innings of shutout pitching while Tyler Von Schell and Robbie Meyer each homered as the Hagerstown Suns downed Kannapolis, 6-2.

Treadway (3-3) pitched into the sixth inning for the third time since being promoted to the Suns for the second half of the season, allowing four hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Daniel Padgett pitched the last three innings for his second save.

The Suns (16-26, 50-62) won for the 11th time in 17 games and again pulled ahead of the Kannapolis into sixth place in the Northern Division.

Hagerstown took a 2-0 lead in the first. Bryan Carter reached on an error and, after walks to Kevin Alexander and Brian Florence, Julian Benavidez singled and Von Schell grounded out to bring home runs.

Von Schell hit his 13th homer of the season to give the Suns a 3-0 in the fourth before an RBI single by Alexander and run-scoring double by Florence gave the Suns a 5-0 lead after five.

Meyer hit his home run in the sixth.

Kannapolis got its runs in the ninth on an RBI triple by Daniel Barnette and a Derek Wigginton sacrifice fly.
