August 02, 2002|by MARLO BARNHART

Moments after a "Just Say No to Drugs" march had passed through the 300 block of Jonathan Street Thursday night, the Hagerstown City Police street crimes unit made a drug arrest.

Eric Marcel Earl, age unknown, of 342 Jonathan St., was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Approximately 200 people had just marched down Jonathan Street in a show of determination to win their neighborhood back from drug dealers as the National Night Out activities came to a close, police said.

Shortly after the 9:06 p.m. arrest, Earl was taken to police headquarters to await an appearance before a bond commissioner.
