Peach Festival

LEITERSBURG - Carla Poulard unloads a fresh supply of peaches during a previous Leitersburg Peach Festival.

The 23rd annual Leitersburg Peach Festival, sponsored by Leitersburg Ruritan Club, will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival will be held on the grounds of the former Leitersburg School House, now Leitersburg Community Park.

The festival will offer homemade peach pies, peach ice cream, roast beef, country ham, pork barbecue and Italian sausage and other foods.

Several local orchardists will sell tree-ripened peaches and other fruits, jellies and jams.

Entertainment will be provided by Ernie Bradley & Grassy Ridge, who play bluegrass and country music, and Saxy, who plays rock and roll.

A homemade peach pie contest will be held Saturday at the Ruritan Park. Pies must be submitted by 11 a.m. and the results will be announced at noon. Call 301-733-4471 for information.

Arts and crafts and displays will be featured on both days.
