Pa. man wrecks vehicle after falling asleep on I-81



INWOOD, W.Va. - A Pennsylvania man on his way back from vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C., apparently fell asleep at the wheel and wrecked on Interstate 81 Saturday, police said.

The man, whose name was not released because his family had not yet been notified, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, said Trooper R.A. Spearen of West Virginia State Police.

Spearen said the driver was in critical but stable condition at the hospital.

Witnesses said the driver fell asleep and the vehicle veered right and hit a sign along the road, he said.

A passenger in the vehicle was taken to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, he said.




Owings Mills man charged in undercover drug operation



FREDERICK, Md. - An Owings Mills, Md., man was charged Friday after an undercover drug operation in the parking lot of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Frederick Police said.

Jason Lamonte Davis, 20, was charged with distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine and several traffic offenses, police said.

Police said they seized crack cocaine, $926 in cash and a 1993 Lincoln Town Car.
