Pen Mar 4, Valley 1: For Pen Mar, Jesse Mowen and struck out nine, while Dillion Spangler had two RBI and Greg Wade had two hits. For Valley, Jordan Thurber had two hits.

Frederick National 6, Sharpsburg 3: Brian Healy had two hits and Brent Abrecht had an inside-the-park home run for Frederick National.

Maugansville 5, National 0: Brandon Glazer had two hits and threw a one-hitter, striking out 11, for Maugansville. Nick Gross struck out nine for National.

E. Frederick 12, West End 2: Stephen Hammerle threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts, Michael Hooper added three hits while Zach Jones and Ryan Arotin had two hits each for East Frederick.


Clear Spring 10, Hancock 5: Bradley Jordan had three hits and Gabe Hirsch, Austin Yost and Zach Leazire each had two hits for Clear Spring. Dylan Whiteside and Nick Harvey each had two hits for Hancock.

Colt League

Peters Township 9, Alleghany 3: Ryan Kramzer had three hits while Aaron Jaussey and Anthony Rossi had two hits each for Peter's. Colin Bookleiner had two hits and Brandon Woods had a home run for Alleghany.

Chambersburg 9, Hagerstown A 2: For Chambersurg, Nick Schreiber and Daniel Stoner combined on a one-hitter, while Cory Hall and Drew McGwin both had home runs.

Hagerstown B 14, Hagerstown A 13: Jim Harmon had four hits and Dustin Stottlemyer had two hits for Hagerstown B. Daniel Zamora had three hits, Hugh Wescott had two hits and Craig Henson had two hits, including a home run, for Hagerstown A.

Palomino Regional

Weirton (W.Va.) Mountaneer Park 11, Hagerstown 4: In Butler, Pa., Derrick Sweigert had three hits and Brad Jennings had two hits for Hagerstown as it finished fourth out of eight teams.


Hagerstown 9, Boardman Ohio 8: In Broadman, Ohio, Marcellus Sumlin homered, Camercon Shifler had two hits and two RBI and Chad Bikle had two hits and three RBI for Hagerstown 13-year old East Zone Regional.

Spinnler sets record

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. - Cumberland Valley Athletic Club member Maria Spinnler, 40, won the Masters division of the fifth annual Louise Mandrell Smoker Mountain 5-kilometer run with a time of 17:53 (course record). The old record was 18:04, set by Alex Smoot in 1998. Spinnler was 4th overall in women. Rick Erdmann, 60, the Hagerstown Junior College track coach from 1971-1979 won the 60-and-over age group in a time 20:24.
