NORTHVILLE, Mich. - Kyle Robinson and Bryson Appel both had two hits for Funkstown in a National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series loss to Dayton.

Murraysville, Pa. 6, Hagerstown 1: Ryan Piaschani pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts for Murraysville.

Valley 14, Conococheague 13: D.J. Johnson pitched a complete game, while Cory Kerr and Matt Bobbitt had three RBI for Valley. Zach Clark and Zach Lucas had three hits for Conococheague.

Thomas Evans 7-8 Tournament

South Mountain 12, Clear Spring 8: Patrick Hollis had four hits, including a homerun, while Ryan Robinson had two hits for South Mountain. Nick Hill had two hits, including a home run, for Clear Spring.

Adam Keyes 7-8 Tournament

Valley 7, Maugansville 0: Brad Spickler, Robby Hogue and Luke Toms combined for a two-hit shutout and Charlie Williams had two hits for Valley.

Frederick American 12, Clear Spring 7: Brady Wilson, Andrew Zimnik and Buck Duckplace all had two hits for Frederick American. Wesley Truax, Jordan Weaver and Kyle Warrenfeltz each had two hits for Clear Spring.

American 18, Clear Spring 11: James Datson, Joe Shook, Bryan Parlett and Mike Hill each had two hits for American. Ashley Shaff, Sam Blake, Brian Doyle, Jeremy Johnson and John Kauffman all had two hits for Clear Spring.

Grace 20, Nazarene 14: Beri Remenick and Sam Allen had five hits each, while Roger Helmen, Dave Odell, Bud Allen and Brian Kelly each added three hits for Grace.


Grier wins AJGA event

GREENVILLE, Del. - Ashley Grier, a Smithsburg graduate, won the American Junior Golf Association Fieldstone Classic on Thursday.

Greer put together rounds of 76-77-75 for a three day total of 228 and won the girls division in a sudden death playoff.

Greer started the final round alone in second place, six strokes behind leader Michaela Cavener. Her win earned her an exemption into next week's McDonald's Betsy Rawls Junior Girls Championship, at the Dupont Country Club in Wilmington, Del. - one of the AJGA's premier events of the season.
