GREENSBORO, N.C. - Derin McMains hit a two-run homer, extending his hitting streak to 11, in a six-run first inning Thursday to lift the Hagerstown Suns to a 11-7 win over Greensboro and a split of a doubleheader.
The Bats scored two runs in the fifth off Anthony Pannone for a 2-0 victory in Game 1 as the Suns had just four hits.
The Suns (11-23, 45-59) held leads of 9-0 and 11-3 through the first 6 1/2 innings to hand the victory to spot starter Julio Pavon (3-6). Pavon allowed three unearned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in six innings.
Julian Benevidez had three hits and two RBI and Tyler Von Schell added three hits and an RBI in the nightcap.
