Products and services: "We sell medical, first-aid and safety supplies in addition to fire extinguishers and automated external defibrillators."

Services: "We offer restocking of industrial first-aid kits, first-aid training basic to advanced CPR (American Heart Association and National Safety Council approved courses). We also provide training in fire extinguisher use and fire safety. We also offer a wide variety of OSHA approved health and safety courses through our National Safety Council Training Center."

Market area: Four-state area.

How did you get into your business, or what motivated you to start it? "In the 1990s Robert volunteered teaching first-aid and CPR classes for EMS companies and the community. Then, in the late 1990s, we saw the need for first-aid and CPR training in the local workplaces. In 2000, we saw the need, after doing several classes that most workplaces did not have adequate first-aid and safety equipment, to keep up with OSHA requirements and the safety of their employees."


Previous business experience: Paramedic, EMT, American Heart Association and National Safety Council instructors.

Number of employees: One full-time, one part-time and several subcontracted instructors.

Store hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with on-call as needed.
