Hagerstown's Ryan Hannamen strikes out 13

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The hagerstown Suns erupted for five runs in the eighth inning and then staved off a Lexington Legend rally in the ninth to post a 7-3 victory in South Atlantic League Northern Division action Friday night.

Ryan Hannaman (5-6) struck out a Suns' season-high 13 batters in six innings of work.

Hagerstown (8-21), winners of three of four games, won its first at Applebees Stadium. Derin McMains gave Hagerstown a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first inning. Lexington tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning.

Hagerstown took a 2-1 lead in the seventh as Robbie Meyer doubled and scored on Justin Knoedler's double. The Suns broke the game open in the eighth. Scoop McDowell hit a two-run triple and scored on Meyer's infield single. Knoedler followed with an RBI double and scored on Bryan Carter's single.

Lexington rallied in the ninth inning against reliever Kyle Gross, who walked all three batters he faced. Ryan Meaux came in, got a double play grounder, and then a called strikeout for his 14th save of the season.
