The Johnses

Dr. and Mrs. Laurence E. Johns of Leitersburg were surprised by family and friends at a party Saturday, June 22, at Richardson's Restaurant in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The dinner was hosted by their daughters and spouses, Linda and Mark Lambert and Debbie and John Neal. Out-of-town guests attended from California, Catonsville, Md., and Gaithersburg, Md.

The Johnses were married Saturday, June 21, 1952, at First Brethren Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. James E. Ault, now deceased.

State Sen. Donald F. Munson attended the event and, on behalf of the membership of the Maryland Senate, presented the Johnses with a resolution congratulating them on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.


Dr. Johns is the son of the late Lawrence M. and Freeda Brandenburg Johns. He is a 1962 graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School, University of Maryland at Baltimore. He retired from the practice of dentistry in 1998.

Mrs. Johns is the former Patsy Ann Troupe, daughter of the late H. Mason ("Mace") and Florence Leatherman Troupe. She was employed by Pangborn Corp. for eight years and was a homemaker.

They have two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

The Tritches

Dr. and Mrs. Harold R. Tritch Jr. of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Emerald Isle, N.C. The celebration was hosted by their three sons and spouses, H. Ray Tritch III of Carey, N.C.; Brian and Shelley Tritch of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Todd and Dawn Tritch of Freeport, Maine.

The Tritches were married June 8, 1952, in Silver Spring, Md., by the Rev. Frank Yost.

Mrs. Tritch is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Wargo.

Dr. Tritch is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Tritch Sr. He has been practicing family medicine in Hagerstown for 41 years.

They have seven grandchildren.

The Bakers

Ralph and Ohna Baker of Hagerstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 30, 2002, at the Dan-Dee Restaurant in Frederick, Md. Family members attended the dinner hosted by their children, Vicki and Mike O'Connor and Brenda and Dean Burkett.

The Bakers were married June 27, 1942, by the Rev. Guy P. Brady, at Grace Reformed Church in Taneytown, Md.

Mrs. Baker is the daughter of the late Alice and Banner Pinnix. She retired from North Hagerstown High School and now works at Season's Country Collectibles in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Mr. Baker is the son of the late Mary and Roy Baker. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc.

They have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
