Margaret E. Potter

WILLIAMSPORT - Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Anderson Potter, 83, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Williamsport Retirement Village.

Born June 2, 1919, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Leo and Blanche Johnson Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Leon Potter.

She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Eagles Aerie 694 Ladies Auxiliary.

She worked as a technician at Washington County Hospital for 12 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Lawana K. Huff of Pettes, Texas; one son, Michael S. Potter of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Bette J. Burger and Sylvia D. Dunahugh.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.




Donald F. Powers

HANCOCK - Donald Franklin Powers, 87, of Hancock and formerly of Roberts Road, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.

Born Jan. 17, 1915, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Harry L. Powers Sr. and Ida Mae Hull.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy P. Barnhart Powers, in 1999.

He was a 1933 graduate of Hancock High School.

He retired from the Federal Government as a carpenter.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Donald E. Powers and Donald F. Powers Jr.; five sisters, Edna Powers, Katherine Powers, Mildred Diehl, Elva Webster and Marjoria Powers; and six brothers, Paul E. Powers, Fred M. Powers, John L. Powers, Carl W. Powers, Harry L. Powers Jr. and Charles W. Powers.

Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. The Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Floyd B. Furl Sr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Floyd B. Furl Sr., 90, of 681 Wayne Ave., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Shook Home, Chambersburg.

Born May 15, 1912, in Jersey Shore, Pa., he was the son of the late Floyd B. Furl and Mabel Furl Reynolds.

He was an agent with the former Railway Express Agency in Chambersburg, retiring after 33 years of employment.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg, where he served as an elder.

He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F & AM of Chambersburg; and Cumberland Valley Railroad Club.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Kraiss Furl, whom he married July 26, 1937; one daughter, Dorothea A. Corey of Chambersburg; one son, Floyd B. Furl Jr. of Chambersburg; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Private graveside services will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. C. Edward Morgan will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Goldie V. Crouse

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Goldie Virginia Crouse, 91, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home.

Born May 27, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Rena Irene Huffman Crouse.

She worked as a laundress.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, J. Ernest Crouse, Harry S. Crouse, Virgil L. Crouse and Willard A. Crouse.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Wayne Frum will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Berkeley Springs Humane Society, 5366 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.




Nancy L. Allin

Nancy L. Allin, 55, formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

Born Oct. 15, 1946, in Woburn, Mass., she was the daughter of William Henry and Berth Petkus Allin.

She was a housekeeper.

She was a volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Kardaseski of Massachusetts; and two sisters, Patricia J. Goodwin of Reading, Mass. and Bonita M. Donahue of Derry, N.H.

Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev Robert C. Lehman will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown.




Robert W. Murray

Robert Wayne Murray, 69, of 1042 Brinker Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.
