Jason C. Brezler was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps, on May 24.
Brezler returned from Cuba in April, where he had served as the Officer in Charge of the Marine Combat Engineer Detachment for the terrorist detainee mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Brezler's detachment of 41 Marines constructed the detainee units at Camp X-Ray, as well as the camp facilities for security force personnel in a joint effort with U.S. Navy Seabees.
Brezler is currently serving as the executive officer, Company B, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Brezler is a 1996 graduate of North Carroll High School and a 2000 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He is the son of Stephen and Lisa Brezler, formerly of Hampstead, Md., and originally from Hagerstown.
