Pa. board agrees to reduce Frick Co.'s tax responsibility

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Waynesboro Area School Board agreed Tuesday to reduce the assessment on the Frick Co. property by about 28 percent.

The property assessment had been $1,139,090 and was dropped to $821,250, school board President Lawrence M. Glenn said.

As a result, the school district will receive $17,709 less in taxes from Frick, Glenn said.

Franklin County and the Borough of Waynesboro previously agreed to the reduction, he said.

The effect on taxes for those two municipalities was not available Tuesday night.

Glenn said the assessment protest went on for several months. The property hadn't been reassessed in about five years and it probably had depreciated, he said.

Also, it would have been expensive for the district to defend its assessment in court, Glenn said.
