MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A woman was jailed on $20,000 bond after she allegedly fired a shot at her ex-boyfriend in downtown Martinsburg Monday morning and missed.

Monica Renee Dixon, 24, of 409 W. Martin St., was charged with one count of wanton endangerment, said Martinsburg City Police.

Police arrived at the intersection of Martin Street and Maple Avenue at 10:30 a.m. for a report of a shot fired. They found Dixon in the custody of Brock Vanorsdale, who enforces parking meter laws for the city.

In the statement of charges, Vanorsdale told police he was in the area and heard what he thought was a gunshot. He saw a man waving his arms and pointing toward Dixon, saying she had shot at someone, charging documents said.

Brock approached the woman and asked her if she heard a shot. She said "yeah," charging documents said.

Brock then asked her if she had just shot a gun. She again said "yeah," charging documents said.

A gun was found in Dixon's purse and taken into custody, police said.

While police were speaking with Dixon, she told them her ex-boyfriend, Adrian Green, was abusing her, charging documents said.
