July 13, 2002

BIG POOL - A motorcyclist from Maine was flown to Cumberland Memorial Hospital on Friday after she laid her bike down on Interstate 70 near Big Pool and was struck by another motorcyclist.

The woman, whose name was not released, was in stable condition when she left the scene of the accident, Maryland State Police said.

The woman was westbound on I-70 about 2:30 p.m. when a truck pulling a trailer in front of her went into the median and came back onto the road, police said.

She applied her brakes to avoid a collision and her bike fell over. She and her bike ended up in the median after she was struck by a motorcyclist traveling behind her, police said.
