Hazel J. Perrain

Hazel Julia Perrain, 69, of 421 Sumans Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Washington Hospital Center.

She was the daughter of the late Bennie Williams and Anna Virginia Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Perrain.

She attended North Street School.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Lillian R. Perrain of Hagerstown; one son, Eugene O. Taylor Sr. of Hagerstown; one brother, James E. Johnson of Baltimore; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at noon at Asbury United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Yvonne Mercer-Staten will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Friday at 11 a.m. at the church, which will open at 10 a.m.

Clarence L. Hause

Clarence Leon Hause, 91, of 14429 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 7, 1910, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Scott and Nettie Leckrone Hause.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie L. Hause, in 1999.

He was employed by Avalon Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1985. He was also a farmer.

He was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.

He is survived by three sons, Raymond E. Hause, Kenneth L. Hause and Russell S. Hause, all of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Hause and Howard Hause.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ginny Brown Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ's Reformed Church, Building Fund, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Calogero E. Portera

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Calogero Eno Portera, 73, of 1188 Boyer Mill Road, and formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 13, 1929, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Branto Portera.

His wife, Margaret Spiker Portera, whom he married in 1955, died Aug. 17, 1986.

He worked as an auto parts clerk at Venda Auto Parts in Punta Gorda, retiring in 1990.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Cosmo Portera.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. James R. O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, where military services will be conducted by members of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Frank E. Bushey Jr.

CAVETOWN - Frank E. "Bud" Bushey Jr., 89, of Cavetown and Flintstone, Md., died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born June 19, 1913, in Cavetown, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Ruby Spielman Bushey Sr.

He attended Cavetown, Smithsburg and Hagerstown schools, and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.

He retired in 1978 from Cavetown Planing Mill as president and superintendent of the special millwork division.

He was a member of Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co.; North American Rod and Gun Club of Hagerstown; a member and past president of Camp Kanawha of Point of Rocks, Md.; a member of Moose Club of Cumberland, Md.; Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.; and a former member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club of Smithsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary E. Hartle Bushey; 10 daughters, Patricia Higman and Jeanne Metz, both of Cavetown, Louise Scibilia and Kathy Garrott, both of Williamsport, Linda Custer of Waynesboro, Helen Reynolds and Teresa Kipe, both of Smithsburg, Matilda Kirby of Germantown, Md., Susan Witmer of Clear Spring, and Rebecca Bushey of Hagerstown; three sons, Frank E. Bushey III of Hagerstown, Richard S. Bushey of Smithsburg, and Thomas E. Bushey of Middletown, Md.; one sister, Mary E. Lingrel of Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown; 19 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles L. Bushey; an infant sister; and two brothers, George M. Bushey and William L. Bushey.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. William C. Kercheval will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
