    Ravens Nest meeting


    Tri-State Ravens Nest 12, a Baltimore Ravens fan club, will hold its monthly membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tony's Italian Restaurant, 14424 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

    The guest speaker will be major league umpire Fred Brocklander.

    Oakland 10, PVAA 0: Jason Ashby threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts, while Michael Rosezky and Jeff Stem both hit homers for Oakland. Jason Ashby had two hits.

    South Mountain 14, Maugansville 1: Tyler Fath threw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a five-inning win, while Bradley Rohrer had two hits, including a home run, for South Mountain.

Federal 9, Halfway 5: Justin Poffenberger and Tommy Evans homered, while David Bowen and Colin McWilliams both had three hits for Federal.

    Steiner wins qualifier

    Scott Steiner fired a 2-over par 56 to win the second week qualifier at Yingling's on Tuesday. Steiner recorded two birdies and shot an even-par 27 on the back nine.

    Will Roney took second, shooting 62. Kyle Lewis and Nick Zaccaria, finished tied for third place, shooting 70s.

    Oates, Pereschuk run dead heat

    BOONSBORO -- Hagerstown Community College graduates Doug Oates and Chris Pereschuk finished in a dead heat in the two-mile run, both finishing in 10 minutes, 15.4 seconds at the second Pete Wright Memorial Track and Field Series meet of the season.

    Ted Poulos finished third in 12:23.5 before lightning forced cancellation of the rest of the meet.
