Red Cross Day of Information

The public is invited to join the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross for a day at Municipal Stadium Wednesday, July 17.

From 7:30 to 10 a.m., there will be free training in CPR. Students are asked to bring sunglasses and a beach towel. Books will be provided during the class and may be purchased for $15 each. Students will have the opportunity to acquire a one-year certification in adult CPR.

A bloodmobile has been scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, with a minimum weight of 105 pounds and be in general good health. Registration is available, but walk-ins will be accepted.

The Red Cross will offer free child fingerprinting from noon to 4 p.m. The first 250 children accompanied by a parent or guardian are eligible for this service. Law enforcement officers representing Maryland State Police, Hagerstown City Police and Washington County Sheriff's Department will conduct the actual fingerprinting and distribute identification kits.

Nurses will provide blood pressure screenings from noon to 2 p.m. The service is free.

The Hagerstown Suns take on the Charleston Alley Cats at 11:30 a.m. Registration for the CPR class or to donate blood may be made by calling the chapter at 301-739-0717.
