Vendors sought for Technology Expo

Hagerstown Community College is seeking vendors to participate in its fourth annual Technology Expo at Valley Mall on Aug. 23 and 24.

Vendors may rent an exhibit space for $100, which covers the use of tables and chairs, tablecloths, electric supply and advertising for the event.

The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day and will feature an information session, free computer classes, technology demonstrations and giveaway drawings.

General Assembly apporves financial aid name change

Maryland Higher Education commissioners have given approval to change the name of the State Scholarship Administration to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.


The General Assembly approved the name change during the 2002 legislative session. The name change took effect July 1.

The Maryland Higher Education Commission administers more than $80 million in financial aid and grants to more than 46,000 students annually.

Shady Grove Center will hold open house

The University System of Maryland Shady Grove Center and The Universities at Shady Grove will hold an open house on Tuesday, July 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville for those interested in upper-level, undergraduate programs or graduate programs.

Daytime, evening and weekend classes are offered at the University System of Maryland Shady Grove Center and The Universities at Shady Grove. Admission and transfer counselors will be available.
