School Board needs committee volunteers

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Jefferson County Board of Education is soliciting volunteers to serve on a number of School Board committees.

People with expertise and a willingness to donate their time for the committees should submit a letter to the Office of the Superintendent, P.O. Box 987, Charles Town, WV 25414.

There are openings on the School Impact Fee Advisory Committee and the Science and Technology Committee.

Foxcraft Avenue water line to be relocated

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Workers with the City of Martinsburg utilities department will relocate a water line in the 200 block of Foxcroft Avenue from King Street to Viking Way.

Work will begin Tuesday and will continue for several weeks. Work hours will be from midnight to 6 a.m.

Motorists should expect delays and detours during the hours of construction.

Gallery to present a multi-media program

The Washington County Arts Council Gallery will host a mixed multi-media program, M3, that involves music, poetry and the visual arts on the second Friday of each month beginning at 8 p.m.


The program begins with poetry and short fiction readings from regional authors followed by a discussion of the visual artwork featured. It concludes with a concert of acoustic music.

Next Friday, the program will feature the Evan Price Jazz Trio with Frederick artist Kristen Bohlander.

On Aug. 9, the program will feature the Shepherdstown Drum Ensemble with photographer Bruce Wilder.

Each program is free to the public and light refreshments will be served.
