    District 1 11-12 All-Stars

    Sharpsburg 10, Valley 2: Zach Stride and Patrick Wastler combined on a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Stride added four hits to lead Sharpsburg. A.J. Jamison had three hits and Jordan Young had two hits for Sharpsburg. Steven Younker had two hits for Valley.

    West End 12, Hancock 2: Chris Jackson had three hits while Kyle Beers and Jody McElroy each had two hits, including a home run, to lead West End. Henry Fitzgerald also had two hits for West End. Quinten Hull homered for Hancock.

    PVAA 8, Clear Spring 3: John Taylor struck out 10 and Travis Bothast had three hits to lead PVAA. David Mullaney and Gary Henry added two hits in the win. Cody McCarthy homered for Clear Spring.

    Maugansville 9, American 3: At American, Aaron Mills went three-for-four, including a home run, for Maugansville. Todd Jacobson had thre hits, including a home run, for American.


Halfway 12, Conococheague 8: Dee Scott had three hits, including two home runs (one a grand slam), and seven RBI while Jon House had two hits for Halfway. Derrick Harrell had two hits for Conococheague.

District 1 Junior League

Maugansville 5, Oakland 4: Maugansville won the District 1 championship game in eight innings as Chris Palmer allowed four hits, and Brett Bloom, Daniel Jacobs and Corey Monroe had two hits. Jason Wakefeild and Nick Greg each had two hits for Oakland. With the district win Maugansville goes to the state tournament on July 20.

Cal Ripken 9-10

Northeast 10, Smithsburg 4: Jacob Ross and Bryant Hooper had two hits each for Smithsburg.

Smithsburg 11, SYB All-Stars 3: Brandon Wyley and Jocob Ross had two hits while Quinten Fogle had a double and three RBI for Smithsburg.

Colt League

FOP 12, Goodwill 11: Aaron Davis drove in the winning run as FOP the second half playoff. It also gave FOp (17-4) the league title. Jeremy Everrits who had four hits while B.J. Soto, Davis, David Gouff,and Craig Henson all had two hits for FOP. Mike Campbell and Brandon Blahut had two hits for Goodwill.


    Williamsport wins two

    WINCHESTER, Va. - Nathan Himes had three hits and three RBI while Marty Kaetzel had two hits for WIlliamsport Post 202 in its 9-5 win over Morgantown in the first game of the Winchester Firecracker. Jason Embly picked up the win while Ben Jordan retired the final batter for the save.

    Williamsport committed six errors in the 7-6 win over Winchester as Tim Kellinger recorded the win and Jay Love notched the save. Aaron Davis had two hits for Williamsport. Williamsport advances into today's championship round and plays Winchester at 10 a.m. with the winner advancing to the 6 p.m. title game.

    Area team clinches

    BJ's CUStonm Creations/Miller Lite/Stadium Grill and Tavern clinched the berth to the ASA NaAtional Finals in Auburndale, Fla., on September 19-22, going undefeated 4-0 in a qualifier. Greg McCoy and Chris Weaver batted over .700, Brian Smith, Eric Andrews, Steve Barrett, Rod Miller, Andy Wyand and Jimmy Taylor all batted over .600.


    VanBrakle earns All-America

    TORRANCE, Calif. - Student Sports named Chambersburg graduate Steph VanBrakle to its All-America first team. VanBrakle, who will attend the University of Alabama in the fall, led the Trojans to a 26-1 record.
