Fort Loudon hosts Primitive Weekend

FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Fort Loudon Historical Site will host a Primitive Weekend, Friday, July 5, through Sunday, July 7.

The weekend will include atlatl contests. Bob Berk will be available to answer questions about the atlatl and spear and will have atlatl related equipment for sale or will accept orders.

Mark Bracken, a flint knapper, will create arrowheads using flint and stone. He also will have knapping tools and materials on site for sale and will answer questions about flint knapping.

Gene Niswander, editor of The Franklin County Prehistory Newsletter, will display artifacts and answer questions about the inhabitants of the area prior to historic times. Gary Fogelman, editor of Indian Artifact Magazine, will be on hand to answer questions about artifacts and will have IAM issues.

Ooga Booga Chief Dana Klein and his assistant, Kay, will answer questions about The Secret Ear 'O' Corn Society. Initiations for non-members will be held Saturday night inside the fort.

An auction will be held Saturday afternoon to help support the event. Donations are being accepted.
