Suns to finish today

June 28, 2002

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Hagerstown Suns' chance for a victory got washed away - literally.

The Suns owned a 2-0 lead heading through six innings on Thursday, but allowed Lakewood an unearned run in the seventh and another run in the eighth right before heavy rains suspended the game in a 2-2 tie with one out.

Greg Foster singled to left and took second on Robbie Meyer's error that allowed Daniel Tosco to score with the tying run just before the call came for the tarp.

The game will be completed today before the start of the regularly scheduled game.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the second when Tyler Von Schell scored on a wild pitch by Lakewood starter Gavin Floyd with the bases loaded. Branden Florence extended his hitting streak to eight games with a solo home run in the third for the 2-0 lead.
