Police log for 6/23

FREDERICK, Md. - Two people were hurt Friday night after a car failed to stop at a flashing red signal and was struck by a pickup truck, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Driver Megan Kate Gabriel, 20, of Silver Spring, Md., and 18-year-old passenger Julie Renee Lizka were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after the 10:34 p.m. accident, police said. A report on their conditions was unavailable Saturday evening.

Police said Gabriel failed to stop for a flashing red light at the intersection of Urbana Pike and Genstar Drive.

The driver of the pickup, Maya Yubry, 20, of Ijamsville, Md., and another passenger in Gabriel's car, Marg Lizka, refused treatment at the scene, police said.
