Mail Call for 6/20

June 21, 2002

"I have been reading all the things about people being upset about the closing of the trauma center at the hospital. You can write all the letters you want to, to the president, but he is the one that decided to close the trauma center. You need to write a letter to his boss, do you think if you send one to the president, its going to get any further. You need to send one to his boss, who is the chairman of the board. That is who you should write it to. You need to let the person in charge how upset we are about the trauma center closing."

"I am responding to the mail carriers that responded to my Mail Call about them not stopping to get my outgoing mail even though I didn't have mail being delivered. The one said that if you have your flag up they will stop and pick it up. First of all, I don't have a flag, I live in town. The other one said that they have a regulation that they don't have to pick up your outgoing mail as long as you don't have mail. I think it stinks. To all you businesses out there that I have to mail my bills to, well this is why they are late, because of their regulations."

"For all those who took notice of all the trees being cut down downtown. Just for the record, they do plan to replant other trees, they want to tear down the sidewalks and making brick sidewalks, then they will replant the trees. Boy they must have tons of money here in Hagerstown. Well I have one guess, do you?"

"I too have gotten things from the library that say books are overdue. I took a $40 book back and they said I didn't. They said I can't come back to the library or use my card until I pay the $40."

"I was going by a house in the 200 block of South Mulberry on Tuesday. Nobody has lived there for six months, the weeds are sky high, there are rats and animals coming in and out of the yard. We called the city and they won't do anything about it. Maybe we should call the mayor, maybe he will do something about it."

"Have you heard that old saying, 'if you don't do it yourself, it won't get done right?' Well, a few weeks ago, I threw a landscaping stone through a landscaping stone through my french door glass with my mower by accident. These people came down to replace my window. I was at work, when I came home, my wife showed me the work they did. You talk about a sloppy shabby job, I wouldn't walk away and let anyone have a job like that. The caulking was terrible looking. I wouldn't do work like that, If I couldn't do better work than that, I would go out somewhere and dig a ditch. So like the old saying goes, 'if you don't do it yourself, it won't get done right' So no I really have to do it myself anyway."
