Homes, businesses to benefit from carpet given to RE-use

June 20, 2002

A recent donation of more than 5,000-square-feet of carpet to the Hancock RE-use Center will be used to improve some homes and businesses in the area, RE-use Center Founder Hope Cucina said.

Montshire Science Museum in Vermont shipped the "gently used" commercial carpet to the center at 225 W. Main St., Cucina said.

Camp Joy workers will install some of the carpet in low-income homes this summer. The carpet is also being installed in the new offices of the Interfaith Service Coalition on High Street, Cucina said.

These groups would not have been able to afford the high-grade carpet without the RE-use Center, she said.

The RE-use Center is a membership, nonprofit warehouse that collects new and used building materials. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Other hours by appointment. 301-678-6160.
