West Virginia Day events

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Main Street Martinsburg will celebrate West Virginia Day Thursday, June 20, on the square in downtown Martinsburg. The all-day celebration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a live remote radio broadcast by WRNR radio station.

Throughout the day downtown businesses will conduct sidewalk sales, while area quilters and other artisans demonstrate and sell their crafts.

Historian Don Wood will host a two-hour walking tour of downtown Martinsburg beginning at 10 a.m. The tour will begin at the Belle Boyd House, above, at 126 E. Race St.

Lunch will be available on the square, followed by a cake cutting ceremony by Martinsburg Mayor George Karos. There will be free ice cream and live music by Sam Felker; Pam Green, a Patsy Kline impersonator; and The Kitchen Band.

Activities for children will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
