HANCOCK - One person died Thursday night in a fiery crash on eastbound Interstate 68 near the I-70 interchange above Hancock, Maryland State Police said.
The 9:52 p.m. crash involved one vehicle with Maryland tags. The vehicle caught fire after running off the interstate into an embankment, police said.
Information was sketchy late Thursday as police tried to determine the identity of the sole occupant of the car.
The eastbound lanes of I-68 in the area of the 82-mile marker were closed while the accident was being cleared and investigated. One lane reopened at 10:30 p.m.
