Hancock Little League

Pittman Astros 18, Vance Corp. Yankees 9: Quinton Hull went 5-for-5, including a home run, and had 13 strikeouts while Andrew Merica had two hits for the Astros. Natasha Bard had three hits for the Yankees.

Halfway Little League

Valley Storage Bins 9, Redmen 4: Justin Poffenberger had four hits while Mike Warrenfeltz and Danny Spickler had three hits for Valley.

South County Junior League

Jerry's 14, Grosh's 3: David Harmon struck out 10 and Tony Davenport had two hits for Jerry's.

Wash. Co. Girls Softball

Taylor's Sluggers 10 Reliable 4: For Taylor's, Tara Babbie had two hits and four RBI, Devon Giffen had two hits and three RBI and Megan Taylor had two RBI. Eryn Greene had two hits for Reliable.

Nutters Ice Cream 16, Western Maryland Troopers 2: Katie Marshall had three hits while Kaitlin Shinham, Brynn Arnone, Jessica Manuel, Breanne Lohman and Kayla Smith each had two hits for Nutters. Hannah Leizear had three hits, and both Damara McDonough and Cory Atherton had two hits for Troopers.

Yankees 18 Shawley's 7: D.J. Kinna and Jordan Palladino each had four hits for the Yankees while Brandon Greene had three hits.

Rotary 13, Lions 2: Martez Townes and Colin McWilliams each had two hits while Pudge Amalfitano, McWilliams and Cody Nelling combined to pitch a one-hitter for Rotary.

National Minor League

Elks 14, AMVETS 11: June Allen had two triples and four RBI, Ben Peterson hit two doubles and had four RBI while Megan Sneckenberger had two RBI for Elks. Scott Burkett had three hits and had five RBI for Amvets.

CLUB SOFTBALL


Xplosion wins York tourney

The Pa. Xplosion U-18 girls softball team won the ASA Invitational last weekend in York, Pa., beating the Willow Street Hammers 3-0 in the championship game. Kristi Bender (Chambersburg) threw a four-hitter and struck out 15 for the win and Stacey Yeakle (Clear Spring) had two hits.

The Xplosion went 5-1 for the weekend, their only loss coming in the first game of the tournament against the Hammers. Bender picked up three of the five wins on the mound, Holly Wagaman (Waynesboro) went 1-1 and Miley Stymiest (Waynesboro) got the other win.

Jen Ortega (Chambersburg) had two multiple-hit games and Stymiest had one.




ADULT LEAGUES


Dutch's Boys wins twice

Dutch's Boys, Charles Town, W.Va., finished first in a slo-pitch softball tournaments recently. On June 2, it worked its way through the losers bracket and defeated DWS of Middletown, Md. twice to win an ISA tournament in Emmittsburg, Md. On June 9, the Dutch Boys went undefeated in pool play and the double-elimination bracket to win the Yankees' tournament in Martinsburg, W.Va.
