Group recommends creation of permanent redistricting committee

June 12, 2002

The Washington County Public Schools Facilities and Enrollment Committee is recommending the creation of a permanent school redistricting committee, William McKinley, executive director of support services, said Tuesday.

The committee also supported ongoing plans to renovate Salem Avenue Elementary School, and combine the Maugansville and Conococheague elementary schools, and replace those schools with a new Maugansville school.

McKinley said a permanent redistricting committee would replace the 18-member Facilities and Enrollment Committee. That new committee would look at redistricting "in small pieces" as opposed to systemwide redistricting plans, he said.
