June 12, 2002|by DAN KULIN /Staff Writer

The Washington County Board of Education welcomed the next student representative to the board on Tuesday.

Boonsboro High School student Lauren Low, 16, will begin attending the regular meetings as a nonvoting board member in July.

Low, who will be a junior, replaces Alaina Rowe, who is going into her senior year at South Hagerstown High School. Student representatives serve one-year terms.

Low said she wants to be a voice for students on the School Board, as well as keep her fellow students informed about board actions.

Representatives from county high schools that make up the Washington County Association of Student Councils elected Low student board representative.

Low is involved in student government, plays basketball and is a cheerleader.
