AAUW Book Sale raises more than $31,000

June 11, 2002

The recent American Association of University Women (AAUW) Book Sale netted more than $31,000, the most in the history of the sale.

Much of that money will be allocated for scholarships for Washington County students. A portion will go to the Washington County Library. Other contributions are being made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County, Chapter II at Hagerstown Community College, AAUW's Educational Foundation and Books for Babies.

Organizers extended thanks to Todd Bowman, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Janet Hughes and Girl Scout Troop 243, the prisoners in pre-release at the Maryland Correctional Training Center and all others who helped move and set up books.

Books are being accepted for next year's sale. They may be dropped off at the Washington County Library and at the book box in the Fennel Building on Antietam Street in Hagerstown.
