Suns rise past RiverDogs

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Bryan Carter and Anthony Turco each hit two-run home runs and Anthony Pannone held Charleston to two earned runs as the Hagerstown Suns posted a 7-3 win over the RiverDogs on Sunday.

Tyler Von Schell got Hagerstown (31-33) on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly in the third inning that scored Tomas Garrido, who had singled. Carter then hit his seventh homer of the season in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.

Hagerstown scored twice in the sixth inning as Kevin Alexander hit a sacrifice fly and Von Schell singled home Turco, who had singled. Turco then hit his first homer this season in the seventh for a 7-0 lead.

Alexander and Garrido each had three hits.

Pannone, who shut out Charleston for the first six innings, was touched for three runs in the seventh. Pannone (6-3) allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out five in his seven innings of work.

The teams have split the first two games of the four-game series. Game 3 is at 7:05 tonight.
