FUNKSTOWN - Aaron Showe and Josh Carter lead Funkstown with two RBI each as Post 211 won its first game, 4-3 over Winchester, in the Dave Phillips Memorial Day Tournament on Saturday.

WILLIAMSPORT - Post 202 scored 14 runs in five innings to defeat Biglerville.

John Quail led Williamsport with four hits, including two doubles and four RBI. Andy Simmons had two hits, including a two-run home run, and Chris Hoffman added two hits.

Tim Kellinger recorded the win, and Jamie Grossnickle picked up his first save of the season.

Matt Deaderhoff had a solo home run for Biglerville. T.C. Senseney had two hits.

WILLIAMSPORT - Post 202 hung on to defeat Winchester Post 21.

Williamsport was led by Gerad Haupt, who hit two home runs, a double, and had four RBI. John Quail also had two hits, including a three-run home run.

Jason Embly got the win, moving his record to 2-0, and Leo Schill came on in the seventh inning to record the last out and his first save of the season.

Ryan Anderson had three hits to lead Winchester, and Brandon Combs hit a solo home run.

Williamsport's record is 6-0.

FUNKSTOWN - Andy Hallabaugh had two hits, including a solo home run, Tim Hewitt hit a solo home run and Nate Sterner had two hits for Biglerville.

Andy Richardson hit a three run home run, and Drew Mitchell had two hits for Salisbury.


Frederick 2, Jefferson State 1

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Kevin Reaver's two-run single was all Frederick needed as starter John Ernst pitched a complete-game four-hitter with five strikeouts in the NJCAA Division 2 World Series.

Frederick advances to play the winner of Iowa Central/Kellogg today.


Funkstown 12, Middletown 2: Josh Bussard threw a three-hitter and had seven strikeouts. Orland Dean had three hits while TJ Bowser, Drew Crawford and Bryson Appel all had two hits for Funkstown.

Funkstown 16, Middletown 0: Funkstown's Nathan Steelman threw a two-hitter. For Funkstown, Jeremy Mcafee, Chris Grove, Wayne Rumbaugh, Daniel Lynn, AJ Bandeff and Jordan Beard all had three hits.


Halfway Little League

Hoffman Auto 17, Redmen 2: John Houser and Zach Malphurs had four hits and Aaron Miles and Aaron Stotelmyer had two hits to lead Hoffman Auto.

Hoffman Auto 4, Gehr 1: Aaron Miles had an inside-the-park home run and Zach Malphurs had two hits to lead Hoffman Auto.

Gibney's 5, Redmen 0: Patrick Hammond threw a shutout and had two hits to lead Gibney's. Josh Cline also had two hits in the win. Ryan Wood had two hits for Redmen.

National Minor League

Elks 14, Western Maryland 8: Preston Parrish had three hits and four RBI to lead Elks. Michael Cole and June Allen also had three hits in the win; Allen drove in two runs. Brittany Sisler and John Huse both had two RBI for Western Maryland.

West End Little League

Moose 10, Coca-Cola 3: Colby Fisher had three hits and five RBI, including a home run. Meter Scott, J.J. O'Neill and J.R. Head each had two hits for Moose. Kyle Beers hit a home run and Henry Fitzgerald and Dwight Boward had two hits for Coca-Cola.

West End Minor League

FOP 12, St. Lawrence 1: Dakota Burns and Nathan Murray each had three hits, and Brady Hess, Derik Ditlow and Trevor Shuck all had two hits for FOP. Zach Hoovermill had three hits, and Brad Smith had two hits for St. Lawrence.

FOP 3, Hagerstown Floors 2: Scott Keeney struck out 14 to lead FOP.

Redmen 12, Firefighters 6: Derek Hadley had four hits, including a home run, and Aerik Taylor also homered for Redmen. Taylor, Corey Itnyre and Mark Dattilio each had two hits. For Firefighters, Harrison Hammond and Dustin Boward had two hits.
