May 23, 2002|BY MARLO BARNHART

A teller at the F&M Bank at Fountainhead Plaza worked with a local artist Wednesday to create a composite of the man who held up the bank Tuesday afternoon, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

"She also revised her description of the man, now saying he was probably more like 5 feet 8 or (5 feet) 10 inches tall," said Investigator Roy Harsh.

The robber went into the bank at 12:38 p.m. implying he had a weapon, although no weapon was displayed

After leaving the bank, the man was believed to have fled on foot toward the west side of the plaza. K-9 units from state and county police were unable to track the robber for any distance, leading investigators to believe the he had a vehicle waiting in the area, police said.

The robber was further described as black, weighing 180 pounds, with a stocky build and an unshaven face. He was wearing a baseball-style cap and glasses or sunglasses.
