SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A 59-year-old Harpers Ferry, W.Va., woman was killed Sunday morning when her car collided with a pickup truck on Flowing Springs Road near the intersection with French Road, police said.

Margaret Corcoran probably died instantly in the 9:05 a.m. crash, said Deputy Michael Dodson of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Dodson said it appears the wreck occurred when Ronald Dillow, 51, of Harpers Ferry, went left of center while traveling south on the road and struck Corcoran's 1997 Volkswagen Gulf, which was traveling north.

Dillow was treated and released from Jefferson Memorial Hospital, said Dodson.

An investigation into the crash is continuing, Dodson said.

May has been a deadly month on highways in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. On Tuesday, Gloria Jeanette Oaks, 49, of Harpers Ferry, died when a tree fell on her car just moments after she dialed 911 to report an accident on W.Va. 9.

Early Wednesday, a Virginia man was struck and killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer while walking in the eastbound lane of W.Va. 9 near Martinsburg, W.Va.

Another Virginia man was killed May 4 when he was hit by a vehicle while walking near Flowing Springs Road in Charles Town, W.Va.
