SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A Cumberland County, Pa., youth was killed and his brother severely injured Wednesday night when their pickup truck rolled over on a Franklin County roadway, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Brian Koser, 12, of Newburg, Pa., was pronounced dead at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., at 11:10 p.m., police said.

His brother, David Koser, 17, also of Newburg, was flown to Hershey Medical Center with severe injuries, Trooper W.G. Confer said. He was listed in good condition Thursday evening, according to a hospital spokesman.

The accident happened at 7:35 p.m. as David was driving a 1988 Ford Ranger north on Mongul Hill Road in Southampton Township and attempted to make a left-hand curve, police said.

The rear of the vehicle began to slide out and it crossed into the southbound lane where the left front tire deflated and the rim dug into the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll over, police said. Both the driver and the 12-year-old passenger were ejected through the back window, police said.

The vehicle came to rest on the east berm facing south, police said.

Confer said the cause of the accident had not been determined.
