Russell E. Schroyer


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Russell E. "Bob" Schroyer, 67, of 11488 Orchard Road, and of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the nursing home.

Born Jan. 24, 1935, in Wolfsville, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Jane Barkdoll Schroyer.

He attended Smithsburg schools.

He retired in 1998 as a machinist from AMP in Waynesboro after 14 years. Earlier, he worked for Wayne's Auto Upholstery of Waynesboro, and for Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Army; and the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years.

He was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, serving on the properties committee.

He was a member and vice president of Brothers of the Brush, Waynesboro; a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and Eagle's Club Inc., all of Waynesboro; National AARP; a former member of Mason Dixon Travelers Camping Club; and assistant scout master of Troop 56 of Wayne Heights, Pa.

He is survived by his wife of more than 44 years, Darla M. "Dolly" Rowe Schroyer; one daughter, Lisa F. Johnson of Waynesboro; one son, Howard W. Schroyer of Mont Alto, Pa.; two sisters, Shirley Rogers of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Doris Cantner of Hagerstown; one brother, David Barkdoll of Greencastle; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth A. Schroyer; and one brother, Albert O. Schroyer.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Revs. Prudence B. Yelineck and James Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military graveside services by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Pauline H. Henry


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pauline H. Henry, 75, of 9700 Circle Drive, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born June 23, 1926, in Port Royal, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John N. and Mabel Tarma Swailes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Henry, in 1999.

She was a retired certified nursing assistant from Hopemont State Hospital in Terra Alta, W.Va.

She attended Brethren in Christ Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha L. Shoemaker and Karen S. Reitz, both of Chambersburg; three sons, Eugene R. Henry Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa., and Charlie A. Henry and Rodney E. Henry, both of Chambersburg; one sister, Bertha E. McCluerry of Shippensburg, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel H. Kelchner will officiate. Burial will be in Flohr's Church Cemetery, Cashtown, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Oliver G. Horn


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Oliver G. "Ted" Horn, 73, of 1303 Park Circle West, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late William Guy and Zella Marie Mearkle Horn.

He was a salesman for Sylvania Plumbing and Heating Supply Co. prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Upper Strasburg United Methodist Church, where he was a teacher and trustee.

He was a member of Hamilton Ruritan Club, and a past member of Green Township Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys E. Hoover Horn, whom he married Feb. 25, 1951; two sons, Dana D. Horn of Chambersburg, and Myron C. Horn of Sykesville, Md.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred M. Keefer.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Mark Hagy will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Strasburg United Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will open Friday at 2 p.m.

Charles E. Christie


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Charles E. "Chuck" Christie, 64, of 91K Mount Airy Ave., died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa.

Born Sept. 19, 1937, in New Castle, Pa., he was the son of the late John Morris and Catherine M. Uber Christie.

He was a 1955 graduate of Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va. He attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa.
