SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Winning pitcher Jess Stotler cmae through with the game-winning RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to help Greencastle (11-8) squeeze by Susquehanna Township in eight innings. Jess Thomas got a triple and a double for her two hits, while Jamie Izer doubled among her two hits for Greencastle.

Shepherd coach honored

PRINCETON, W.Va. - Shepherd's Wayne Riser, the head coach of the North Atlantic Region's top-ranked squad, was honored by his peers as the WVIAC Coach of the Year.

Riser led Shepherd to a 19-3 WVIAC mark as the Rams enter the league tournament with a 32-8-1 overall record. The Rams are currently the top-rated team in the North Atlantic

Region and are ranked 29th nationally by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. The 12th season head coach owns a 254-194-1 career record. The 1989 Shepherd alumnus also won

the WVIAC Coach of the Year honors in 1994 and 1997.

Riser's Shepherd team paces the All-WVIAC squad with four selections. Relief pitcher Jimmy Jackson (5-0, 10 saves, 3.09 ERA) was also an All-WVIAC first team pick in 2001. Also making first team from Shepherd are starting pitcher Brian Renner (8-4, 2.92 ERA), catcher Charlie Drummond (.470 batting average, six homers, 44 RBI and 36 runs scored) and outfielder Mike Spry (.400, 13 homers, 41 RBI, 10 doubles, 43 runs scored).

Shepherd starting pitcher Preston Miller (6-2, 4.39 ERA) made second team and shortstop Brian Powell (four homers, 22 RBI, 45 runs scored) made honorable mention.

Hagerstown PONY League

Redmen 9, Goodwill 4: Derek Hadley had three hits while Nick Bodnar, Aerik Taylor and Joey Siler each added two hits for Redmen. Danny Olsen homered for Goodwill.

FOP 3, Jeter Paving 1: Scott Keeney fired a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts to lead FOP past Jeter Paving. Jeter Paving pitchers David Plank and Jeremiah Mills combined on a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Mills hit a home run.

Hagerstown Floors 6, Firefighters 3: Winning pitcher Blake McCoy fired a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Josh Light hit a home run for Hagerstown Floors. Harrison Hammond led Firefighters with two hits.

Conococheague Little League

Redmen 3, Taylor Trucking 0: Kyle Cunningham pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added a home run while Adam Taylor added two hits for Redmen.

Lions 16, Buyer's Market 6: Coby McCauley had three hits and Tanner Maloy added two for Lions. Ryan Brasull had two hits for Buyer's.

Reid's Elevator 13, Neikirk 12: Winning pitcher Zachary Lucas struck out seven in four innings and had three hits while Dustin Violet and Zachary Clark had three hits apiece, including a home run, and Hunter Eyler added two hits for Reid's Elevator.

Conococheague Minor League

Reids 13, Neikirks 12: Zachary Lucas, Dustin Violet and Zachary Clark each had three hits for Reids. Matt Kelly had three hits for Neikirks.

National Minor League

Western Maryland 15, Elks 4: Dwayne Wilson had eight strikeouts while Sara Renner had four hits and Brittany Sisler added two for Western Maryland. June Allen had two hits, including an inside-the-park home run, for Elks.

South Mountain Minor League

Terry's Auto 8, Reese's Home Improvement 5: Cruz Mills, Joeseph Minoglio and Tyler Mellott all had two hits each for Terry's. Steve Kauffman had two hits for Reese's.

Smithsburg Cal Ripken League

Donnie's Pluming 10, Total Lube Center 4: Nick Ward homered and Cullan Ganley had three hits for Donnie's. Brock Heiston, Brandon Potts, JR Crummit and Ryan Smith each had two hits for Total Lube Center.

Halfway Little League

Gibneys 4, Gehr 3: Patrick Hammond pitched a complete game for Gibneys. Jacob Ramsey had two hits for Gehr.

Valley Little League
