Three Martinsburg men appear in U.S. District Court

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -Two Martinsburg man entered guilty pleas Thursday, while another was sentenced in United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia before Judge W. Craig Broadwater.

- Robert Ellwood Wiley, 39, 256 Berkeley Station Road, entered a guilty plea to one count of knowingly possessing an AMRI Tanfoglio pistol in and affecting interstate commerce on April 12, 2001, in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Wiley, who is currently free on bond, faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing was set for July 29 at 9:30 a.m.

- Arthur Corey Gortman, 22, 126 S. Valley St., entered a guilty plea to one count of distributing crack cocaine on Sept. 18 in Berkeley County.

Gortman, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Sentencing was set for July 29 at 10:15 a.m.

- Michael Dean Marchesani, 30, 109 E. Liberty St., was sentenced to 70 months in prison to be followed by three years supervised release in connection with an earlier guilty plea.

Marchesani pleaded guilty on Feb. 14 to a charge of distributing crack cocaine in Jefferson County on Nov. 8, 2000.
