Joyce Isherwood


EASTON, Md. - Joyce Isherwood, 77, of Easton, and formerly of Laurel and Millersville, Md., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at her home.

Born Feb. 7, 1925, in Lancashire, England, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Oldham Turner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard W. Isherwood, in 1990. They were married May 1, 1946.

She was a 1939 graduate of St. Stephens of All Martyrs School in Lancashire.

She worked for the University of Maryland Physics Department.

She was a former member of The British Bells of Prince George's County, Md.; and The Cosmopolitan Club of Washington, D.C.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol McAuliffe of Easton, Lynda Matheny of Boonsboro and Susan Orme of Theadosia, Mo.; one sister, Hilda Greenhalgh of London, England; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton.

Donald L. Myers Sr.


BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Donald Lee Myers Sr., 64, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Baltimore, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Born Nov. 21, 1937, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Howard Joseph and Elizabeth Jeanette Ault Myers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Claire High Myers.

He was a graduate of Dundalk (Md.) High School.

A retired Baltimore County police officer, he had worked on special assignment with the FBI stolen property division.

He served in the U.S. military.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He was an Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout leader.

He was a member of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019 of Berkeley Springs; VFW Post of Dundalk; Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4 of Towson, Md.; and Nero Lodge 229 AF&AM of Baltimore.

He is survived by four daughters, Susan F. Poole of Silver Spring, Md., Dawn M. Greib of Baltimore, Sherrie L. White and Amanda J. Myers, both of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Donald L. Myers Jr. of Edgewood, Md., David B. Myers of Texas and Donald M. Myers of Nottingham, Md.; one sister, Barbara Ferguson of Florida; two brothers, Jack Myers and Gordon Myers, both of Baltimore; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be today at 10 a.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, Dundalk. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Baltimore.

Local arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Anna M. Moats


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Anna M. Moats, 94, of Mercersburg, and formerly of Markes, Pa., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Manorcare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Sept. 17, 1907, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, she was the daughter of the late Dayton O. and Emma Dorty Mellott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Z. Moats, in 1951.

She owned and operated Moat's Grocery Store for 30 years.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by two daughters, Bernice L. Baker of Marion, Pa. and Rachael E. Atherton of Mercersburg; one son, Guy E. Moats of Mercersburg; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

A private graveside service will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, Pa., at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Phyllis J. Bard will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Helen A. Loudan


BAKERTON, W.Va. - Helen Allen Loudan, 76, of Carter Avenue, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Dec. 24, 1925, in Bakerton, she was the daughter of the late William E. Allen and Mary Allen Kidwiler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albertus "Bert" Loudan, in 1998.

She retired from the A&P grocery store in Charles Town, W.Va., where she worked as a checker.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Bakerton.

She is survived by one son, Gary L. Loudan of McGraw, N.Y.; three sisters, Edith Morrison and Frances Custer, both of Charles Town, and Barbara Webb of Sterling, Va.; two brothers, David Allen of Boonsboro and Willard Allen of Ranson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Noni Sigler will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Arrie O'Ella Kerlin, 90, of 436 Reservoir Road, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at her home.
