The Bywaters

Frank and Anna Bywaters of Hagertown were honored at a 55th wedding anniversary open house celebration at Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002. More than 100 friends and relatives attended the event.

Frank Bywaters and Anna Moser were married Feb. 22, 1947, at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagers-town by the Rev. Barry Plummer.

They are both retired. Mr. Bywaters worked for many years at Southern States and Maugansville Elevator and Lumber Company before starting his own business in the early 1980s. They spend their free time dealing in antiques and glassware.

They have three children, Frank Bywaters Jr. of Smithsburg and Stephanie Bussard and Suzanne Stevens, both of Sharpsburg; and eight grandchildren.

The Wingers

Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Winger of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 7, 2001, at a surprise dinner party in Littlestown, Pa., with friends and relatives. The event was arranged by their daughter, Mary Susan Jenkins.

The Wingers graduated together from Towson High School in 1949 and were married in Lutherville, Md., July 7, 1951.

Mrs. Winger is the former Nancy Claire Washburn, daughter of the late H.H. and Edna Washburn. She retired from Roxbury Correctional Institute Social Work Department in 1995.

Mr. Winger is the son of the late William and Mary Winger. He retired from Maryland Correctional Training Center as a supply officer supervisor in 1996.

The Cosses

Lewis and Mary Coss celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends Sunday, March 10, 2002, at a reception and service of blessing at Community Mennonite Church, hosted by their children.

The Cosses were married March 6, 1952.

They have owned and operated several businesses, including Lewis Coss Fruit Market in State Line, Pa. and Lewis Coss Furniture and Appliances in Hagerstown. Mr. Coss served as pastor for 33 years at Mount Lena Mennonite Church, now known as Community Mennonite Church.

Their children and spouses are Cheryl and Nelson Lehman of Mount Joy, Pa., Twila and Darrell Eberly of Lancaster, Pa. and Dwayne and Christa Coss of Hagers-town. They have six grandchildren.
