Dispute may have prompted Thursday morning shooting

A man who was shot in the foot on Park Place Thursday morning may have been involved in a dispute with another man, according to Hagerstown City Police Lt. Rick Johnson.

Johnson said the victim, whose name was not being released, was standing in the 400 block of Park Place when he was shot in the left foot at 2:12 a.m.

The shooter fled.

The victim, a Florida man, was found by police about a block away on Jonathan Street.

Officers were called to the scene by residents who heard shots being fired, Johnson said.

Johnson said the victim may have been familiar with his attacker.

"We're not too sure of the reason behind it," but the shooting appeared to be a private dispute between two people, Johnson said.

Police determined that the shooting took place in the 400 block of Park Place.

The victim was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, police said.
