BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Amanda Willard singled home the game-winning run in the fifth inning to back Brittay Sirbaugh's five-hitter as No. 8 Berkeley Springs defeated Hedgesville Thursday 2-1 in an Apple Valley League win.

Sirbaugh (13-4) struck out three and walked one for Berkeley Springs (19-7, 9-3) while Jessica Shade tossed a three-hitter, striking out two and walking none for Hedgesville (13-13, 2-9).

National Little League

Funkstown 4, AMVETS 1: Steven Mills hit a game-winning two-run double in the sixth inning for Funkstown. David Stone and Allen Barnett combined on a five hitter. Wes Samples led AMVETS with two hits, including a home run, while J.R. Murray allowed just four hits in a losing cause.

Elks 9 Amvets 6: Michael Cole, Preston Parrish,and Ben Peterson all had two hits for Elks.

Chase Construction 3 Builders Assistants 2: Dwayne Washko drove in the winning run for Chase with his second hit of the game. Jordan Young struck out 13 and had two hits, while Jeff Remsburg, Chet Price and Dylan Thackston all had two hits for Builders.

S. Mountain Little League

Post 10 11, Nationwide 10: Adam Collins had two hits, Eric Seal had three hits, and Josh Stitely had a grand slam for Nationwide, but it wasn't enough to beat Post 10, which also got a grand slam from Blake Roberts. Kyle Grove and Steve Deuanas each added two hits for Post 10.
